Dear Members & Friends of CCMCC,
Although it is often difficult, change is necessary for personal,
professional, and spiritual growth.
Please join us this Saturday, September 12th from 10am-2pm as
we explore the cycle of change with Rev. Elder Lillie Brock.
Reverend Elder Brock will lead us through the
6 stages of change and identify common thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
associated with each stage. She will
leave us with a better understanding of this process and how it affects each of
us individually. In a world that is
ever-changing, this is a workshop that you do not want to miss. Please RSVP by Friday to the church office at
404-373-2933 or via email: christcovenant@christcovenantmcc.org.
The Hospitality Team will
be providing lunch so we need an accurate head count.
On Wednesday, September 16th at 7pm we are hosting the
second "What's Next?" Forum. We will
begin with a "State of the Church" update and then build on the items we
discussed at the forum last month. We
are ready to begin the action phase of our planning, and we encourage everyone
to attend and get involved.
Send
your prayer requests to prayer@christcovenantmcc.org.
Reverend Kathy Burton will add these prayers to the prayer book so that they may
be included in the Community Prayer each Sunday during Service. You can also access this link through our
website: www.christcovenantmcc.org.

Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction
|
|
| Saturday night, September 19th
Remember to mark your calendar for our Fun- Filled Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction at CCMCC!
This is a FREE night for everyone, but we will be having a silent auction if you would like to participate. We will be inviting our neighbors who live around the church and their families and the events will start at 5:30 pm. We hope to have the bounce house like we did at Easter. We will start eating around 6:00 pm and the auction will end around 7:30 pm. There are a few items that will be up for live auction. The event will end around 8:00 pm.
The hospitality team will provide the spaghetti, bread and drinks. Everyone makes their spaghetti sauce differently and if you do cook then please make your special sauce and bring it to share with your friends. If you do not cook, that is ok, come anyway, there will be plenty to go 'round!
**PLEASE BRING YOUR SAUCE IN A CROCK POT. We will be using the stove for the spaghetti and won't have enough space to heat everyone's sauce.
Dana and Michelle Clark will provide "mini" guitar and drum lessons. I have been taking guitar lessons for a month and it is lots of fun. Dana is a wonderful teacher!
If you have a business or know someone who would contribute to our silent auction please have them call me @ 678-367-7662 or email me at:hospitality@christcovenantmcc.org
Please invite your friends and join us for a fun evening !!!!!!
Thanks!

Marsha Stevens-Pino in concert
|
|
Saturday night, September 26, 7pm
Marsha Stevens-Pino will be here to rock the house! Save the time and date! You won't want to miss out on this awesome experience!
Born Marsha Carter, the talented performer wrote what would
become Children of the Day's classic hit, "For Those Tears I Died (Come to the Water)" when she was just sixteen. One of the most popular songs of the Jesus movement, "For Those Tears I Died" is a moving testimony to God's saving grace, replete with images of baptism and liberation...the song was featured on what was destined to become the most important Christian music album of all time,
Maranatha's The Everlastin' Living Jesus Music Concert, the record that put the Jesus movement revival into high gear, spreading its influence from Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa throughout the country and beyond. "For Those Tears I Died" became one of the best known Christian folk songs of the decade. It would be translated into numerous languages, recorded by countless artists and, for a time, could be found in practically every evangelical songbook in the country. No one in 1969 could have predicted it would have such influence in the decade ahead - much less that, for two decades
beyond, Christian congregations would be ripping the song out of their hymnals,
systematically binding up the pages and mailing them off to Stevens as a symbol of the hostility they felt toward one who continued to love Jesus and sing His praises when they thought she was no longer entitled to do so...
Stevens became the first (and as of 2002, the only) major singer in the contemporary Christian music subculture to identify herself publicly as a lesbian...Christian Century Magazine has said that Stevens became "conservative Christianity's worst nightmare - a Jesus-loving, Bible-believing, God-fearing lesbian Christian."
Somewhat ironically, Stevens has continued to represent "the spirit of the Jesus
movement" more faithfully than anyone else from that era. In the early '70s, Christian bands often traveled the country in vans or buses, playing wherever and whenever they could in exchange for a free-will offering and a chance to give their testimonies.
Likewise, Stevens spent the (past 10 years) in an RV doing from 120-200 concerts a year...she eschews worldly possessions, fame, fortune and all the rest for the simple opportunity of telling the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

One Spirit, One Body
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all
baptized into one body- Jews or Greeks, slaves or free- and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. -1 Corinthians 12:12-13
CCMCC Retreat
By Beth Anderson, Retreat Team Member
What another exciting and fabulous meeting we had Wednesday night as we are planning for the upcoming retreat ( Nov 20-22). How many meetings have you been to that make you feel that way?? This year our retreat's theme is "One Spirit One Body" and is at Camp Mikell in Toccoa, GA.
Yes, details of this retreat have been in our bulletin, chimes and website, but I am writing to say that this is an event you do not want to miss. Just planning this event gives me exciting goosebumps. We all come from different backgrounds. We are all, however, Christians. The spiritual growth and discussions from this year's retreat will challenge us all to continue to explore who we are as individuals and how we may grow. We will have great food, wonderful fun fellowship, fabulous music, incredible discussions, lots of sharing, time for
reflection and lots more.
Please plan to come to this retreat.... I believe it will be a truly incredible
experience. There is more information on our website about the rooms and costs @ www.christcovenantmcc.org
We will not have open registration the day of the retreat at Camp Mikell as we have in previous years. No fees or registration for the retreat will be accepted after November 10, 2009.
Retreat planning meetings:
Sept 23, Oct 7, Oct 21, Nov 4, Nov 18

The retreat team is meeting every other week to plan and prepare for a restful and
rewarding time together at Camp Mikell. Our journey begins with dinner on Friday evening followed by introductions and a small group activity. During the weekend we will think about the Body metaphor that the apostle Paul is speaking of in his letter to the church at Corinth. You may want to begin this journey before November 20th by reading the 12th chapter of 1 Corinthians and thinking about different body images. There will be some art, some meditation and prayer, some singing, a lot of fun and
re-creation. We will cap off our time together with worship on Sunday morning.
Marshall-Grant Ministries and Satin Britches will be with us all weekend to
provide music. Thanks to everyone who is able and willing to take the time to get
together. We form bonds on these retreats that are not possible with brief Sunday
encounters.
