From Your Board of Directors
Dear Members & Friends of CCMCC,

I am so proud of our church.  We have been through another very difficult time in the life of this congregation and it appears that we, as a community, are emerging from the dust.  Our congregation and you, it's leaders, have stepped up, taken the reigns and worked hard to get this church on it's feet again.

As your treasurer, I feel it is my responsibility to keep you informed of where we are and where we hope to be financially.  And I, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, am watching the giving and expense patterns for CCMCC very closely. With that in mind, I want to let you know where we stand.

First of all, we are debt free with the exception of our mortgage.  We are current on all bills and that feels really good.  Good work!

Secondly, our office manager, Angela Womack is posting our Aging Report (bills due) on the downstairs bulletin board for your review every week.  If you want to see more information, I am open to that and want to hear from you.

On May 31, 2009, our church passed a reduced annual budget of $112,944.00 which translates to an average weekly offering of $2,154.69.  The good news is that we met that average weekly goal in June and July!  In August, however, our giving declined to an average of $1,646.46 per week.  But August is the last month of summer and is normally a "lower" giving month.  Now that we are into the fall, it is our hope that those giving trends that began earlier in the summer will resume.  Our average weekly giving for September was $1,803.80.

Historically October has been the month we begin our financial plans for the coming year.   It is my plan to do just that.  I have begun working on 2010 budget proposals and looking at what we can afford to pay a pastor.  I need to know from you what the church can expect in giving from you for 2010.  We all vote with our checkbooks and I am asking you to vote for your community, for your beloved community. The model of giving we have from the "Old" testament is to give back 10% (this is where we get the word tithe) of what you receive to the work of the faith leaders, the buildings and in so doing, you are giving back to God. The model in the New Testament follows that model because most of the congregations that we have letters to and from were trying to follow the Jewish law. The Gospels however are not specific. Jesus points out the disparity in the economy when he comments on the rich folks dropping in their excess while the widow giving "all she had" (Mark 12:40-43). Jesus tells his followers through word and action that you should give as much as you can to as many as you can; Jesus reminds us that giving is blessing. Let's bless our community with our giving and become the beacon of hope and faith to our city and our world that we are called to be.

So with that in mind, I urge you to complete a pledge card for 2010 (Pledge Cards will be available at the worship service on Sunday) so that the board of directors can begin to create a 2010 budget proposal that fits our needs and giving.  I also ask that we continue to pray for our church leaders and pastoral search team as we do everything within our power to make CCMCC the best it can possibly be.

With love and respect,
Carolyn Marshall
CCMCC Treasurer

One Spirit, One Body
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all
baptized into one body- Jews or Greeks, slaves or free- and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
-1 Corinthians 12:12-13

CCMCC Retreat
By Jane Acuff, Retreat Team Member

Our retreat this year will be a time of getting to know one another and getting to know how our faith stories really are quite similar. We will have some time to explore new ways of seeing our neighbor, our God and ourselves. We have planned more time for relaxing in the beautiful North Georgia mountains than in past years and hope that this will be truly a time of re-creation and re-treat for us all.

If you enjoy good food, good fellowship and a beautiful, quiet mountain setting then sign up today and join us for One Spirit One Body!

Blessings,
Jane Acuff
Retreat Worship Team

We will not have open registration the day of the retreat at Camp Mikell as we have in previous years. No fees or registration for the retreat will be accepted after November 10, 2009.
