From Your Board of Directors...
|
|
Dear Members & Friends of CCMCC,
At the Congregational Meeting on Sunday, the membership
approved the 2010 budget and elected Linda Armstrong, Beth Boersma, Barbara
Bugg, John Hartland, and Carolyn Marshall to serve on the Board of
Directors.
As you know, the Board has been meeting weekly since
this summer. Some of you attend these meetings regularly, and we
appreciate your support and involvement in Church business. We
have finally come to a point where we are able to meet less often.
Our next scheduled Board meeting will be Monday, November 30th
at 7pm.
In December, we are moving our meetings to Tuesday
evenings and will meet Tuesday, December 8th and Tuesday, December
22nd at 7pm.
Starting in January, we will again meet
only once a month, the first Tuesday of each month. We welcome
your input and encourage you to attend these meetings as you are able.
In closing, we'd like to thank the Retreat Committee for
all of your hard work planning our retreat weekend at Camp Mikell.
It promises to be a wonderful weekend, and we could all use some time to
rest and reflect.
Peace and blessings,
CCMCC Board of Directors

On Wednesday, December 2nd and Thursday, December
3rd, we have scheduled time for Rev. Elder Shepherd to meet
individually with congregants. The times
available are:

404.373.2933 or via email to: christcovenant@christcovenantmcc.org If you are sending an email, please put "Appt.- Glenna" in the subject line.
Several members of the congregation have graciously offered to host
"Meet & Greets" in their homes.
These informal gatherings will provide a time to for Rev. Elder Shepherd
to share with you her vision and plans for CCMCC.
Cathy Giarrusso and Mary Louise Upshaw will
host: Thursday, December 3rd at 7pm.
Zoila Freeman will host: Saturday, December 5th at 1pm.
Mickey Mittong will host:

All Church Social at 7pm in Davis Hall to welcome our pastoral candidate and
show some of our Southern hospitality.

finger food to share. This will not be a
sit-down dinner, but more of a casual get-together to relax and enjoy great food
and fellowship!

Advent - begins next Sunday, November 29 with Rev. Jane Acuff
"The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it." -John 1:5
|
|
Advent is the beginning of the Church Year for most churches in the Western Tradition. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and ends on
Christmas Eve.
Advent is a time when we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ. It is a time of hope and expectation, reflection and preparation, and it is a celebration of light in the midst of darkness.
The Advent Wreath, a symbol of these themes, is made of evergreen branches and contains 4 candles, three purple and one pink, representing Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. Each week during Advent, we light one candle. The light of the candles grows brighter the closer we get to Christmas. On Christmas, we light the center white candle, the Christ candle, to celebrate the light that Christ brings to the world.
Our first Advent service, November 29th, will include the "Hanging of the Greens," a tradition in churches and homes during the season of Advent.
Please join us as we prepare our sanctuary and our hearts for the revelation of God's love through the birth of Jesus.

Sunday School
|
|
We will not have Sunday School this week. Please join us on November 29th
