From Your Board of Directors...
Dear Members & Friends of CCMCC,

The retreat this past weekend was amazing! We reconnected with old friends and made new ones.  For those of you in our church community who were unable to attend, we missed you, but know that you were with us in spirit. Thanks to the retreat team for making it happen.

Next week Reverend Elder Glenna Shepherd will be here to candidate with us! We challenge you to help us "pack the house" for the Sunday, December 6th worship service. We ask that you invite 10 people to worship with us.  It can be friends, family, new faces, or someone in our church community that you haven't seen at church in a while.  If you remember Easter Sunday, we were close to standing room only. Let's make that happen again at the start our Christmas season!

We are beginning a new day at CCMCC with many blessings to come!

Peace,
CCMCC Board of Directors
CCMCC Pastoral Candidate Glenna Shepherd
Rev. Elder Glenna Shepherd

The Pastoral Search Team has planned the candidate week for Reverend Elder Glenna Shepherd.  She will be here the first week of December, and we have planned a variety of activities so that everyone will have the opportunity to get to know or get re-acquainted with Glenna before the vote on Sunday, December 6th.

On Wednesday, December 2nd and Thursday, December 3rd, we have scheduled time for Rev. Elder Shepherd to meet individually with congregants.  The times available are:

Wednesday afternoon between 3:30 and 6:30pm
Wednesday evening between 7:30 and 9:30pm
Thursday afternoon between 2:30 and 5:30pm

To make an appointment you must contact Angela in the church office at 404.373.2933 or via email to: christcovenant@christcovenantmcc.org  If you are sending an email, please put "Appt.- Glenna" in the subject line.

Several members of the congregation have graciously offered to host "Meet & Greets" in their homes.  These informal gatherings will provide a time to for Rev. Elder Shepherd to share with you her vision and plans for CCMCC.

Cathy Giarrusso and Mary Louise Upshaw will host: Thursday, December 3rd at 7pm.

Zoila Freeman will host:
Saturday, December 5th at 1pm.

Mickey Mittong will host:
Saturday, December 5th at 7pm.

Light refreshments will be provided and everyone is invited to attend!  You must RSVP with Angela in the church office to be registered for one of these meet & greets.

Finally, Friday, December 4th, we will host an All Church Social at 7pm in Davis Hall to welcome our pastoral candidate and show some of our Southern hospitality.  We encourage everyone to attend and ask that you bring your favorite finger food to share.  This will not be a sit-down dinner, but more of a casual get-together to relax and enjoy great food and fellowship!
  CCMCC Board Meetings
The BOD has met weekly since this summer.  Some of you attend these meetings regularly, and your support and involvement in Church business is much appreciated. The time has come where the meetings can be less often.  The next scheduled Board meeting will be
Monday, November 30th at 7pm.

In December, meetings are moving to Tuesday evenings:

Tuesday, December 8th and
Tuesday, December 22nd at 7pm

Starting in January, meetings will go back to once a month, the first Tuesday of each month.   We welcome your input and encourage you to attend these meetings as you are able.
Advent  begins this Sunday,
November 29 with Rev. Jane Acuff
Advent boardwalk

"The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it."    -John 1:5
Advent is the beginning of the Church Year for most churches in the Western Tradition.  It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and ends on
Christmas Eve.

Advent is a time when we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ.  It is a time of hope and expectation, reflection and preparation, and it is a celebration of light in the midst of darkness.

The Advent Wreath, a symbol of these themes, is made of evergreen branches and contains 4 candles, three purple and one pink, representing Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.  Each week during Advent, we light one candle.  The light of the candles grows brighter the closer we get to Christmas.  On Christmas, we light the center white candle, the Christ candle, to celebrate the light that Christ brings to the world.

Our first Advent service, November 29th, will include the "Hanging of the Greens," a tradition in churches and homes during the season of Advent.

Please join us as we prepare our sanctuary and our hearts for the revelation of God's love through the birth of Jesus.
Sunday School
Please join us at 9:30 Sunday as we follow Joseph to Egypt.  Hope to see you there!
