From Your Board of Directors...
Dear Members & Friends of CCMCC,

On Sunday, the membership of Christ Covenant voted unanimously to elect Reverend Elder Glenna Shepherd as our Senior Pastor!  It has been a long and often difficult journey to get to the place where we are now as a church, but we got through it together.  That is what matters the most.  During the past several months, we learned a lot about ourselves both as a group and individually, and it has made us a stronger community of faith.  It will be exciting to experience what the future holds.

Throughout the Christmas season, we are reminded of our blessings.  Christ Covenant is blessed to have dedicated and hard-working staff.  Although they are few, they do the work of many, and we appreciate everything they have done and continue to do in service to the church.  On December 20th, we will take a special offering as a gift of thanks to our staff.  If you will not be with us for worship that Sunday, we encourage you to make arrangements to contribute to this offering by mail or online.  Please give as you are led in recognition of the valuable work of our CCMCC team.

Peace,
CMCC Board of Directors

IMAGINE a world in which Hope is rising ...IMAGINE a world in which Peace is prevailing... IMAGINE a world in which Joy is abounding... IMAGINE a World in which Love is reigning ...            -Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson

During this Season of Advent, to celebrate the Divine One's mercy, love and compassion for all people and to try to make incarnate Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson's prayer to imagine a different world, the Social Action team has invited the whole congregation to participate in our special Christmas outreach.

The First Sunday of Advent, we lit the candle of HOPE and signed Christmas cards for our adopted platoon from Georgia.  They are now stationed in Iraq. We also signed cards to our own Private James D. Price who is in Kuwait.  We send out our thanks and prayers to these service women and men with the hope of their safe return home.

Last Sunday we lit the candle of PEACE and prayed for the people of Darfur and for peace in their land.

This Sunday, December 13th we will light the candle of JOY - Please join us in Davis Hall following service for a practice in the Joy of Gift Giving as we wrap presents and prepare packages for our families from the Jerusalem House. We will have sweets and Christmas music as we fellowship and tie bows together!!

Jerusalem House provides over 50% of Atlanta's permanent supportive housing designated for homeless persons living with HIV/AIDS. Over 40% of their residents are children.

December 20th - LOVE -...and love one another.. In an act of loving the friends and members in our very own congregation, names and the special needs of congregational members who are in the midst of hardship have been collected by our worship leaders.  Please see Ruth Gabriel to see how you can help fulfill these needs. All recipients and donors will remain anonymous.
CCMCC Christmas Project
This Christmas at Christ Covenant we are reaching out to help those closest to us.

Please help our church family members that are most in need this year to have a better Christmas!

All recipients and donors will remain anonymous.

We are giving gift cards from Kroger and Walmart. If you would rather give cash or a check, we will convert those donations to a gift card or needs-based gifts.

Please see Ruth Gabriel with your contribution on or before December 20th.

Thank you to everyone for your generosity in loving our  community!

Advent

"The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it."    -John 1:5
Advent is the beginning of the Church Year for most churches in the Western Tradition.  It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and ends on
Christmas Eve.

Advent is a time when we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ.  It is a time of hope and expectation, reflection and preparation, and it is a celebration of light in the midst of darkness.

The Advent Wreath, a symbol of these themes, is made of evergreen branches and contains 4 candles, three purple and one pink, representing Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.

Each week during Advent, we light one candle.  The light of the candles grows brighter the closer we get to Christmas.  On Christmas, we light the center white candle, the Christ candle, to celebrate the light that Christ brings to the world.

Please join us this Advent season as we prepare our hearts for the revelation of God's love through the birth of Jesus.

Starting in January, meetings will go back to once a month, the first Tuesday of each month.   We welcome your input and encourage you to attend these meetings as you are able.
