From Your Pastor...Rev. Glenna
Dear Friends,

How overwhelmed I am - with gratitude, with hope, with joy!  I am blessed beyond measure to join you as your pastor!

And what a great day to begin this journey together - at the beginning of a new year and on Baptism Sunday.  Baptism is the sacrament that joins us not only to God, but to each other.  It's a sign of who we are and of our purposes - both as individuals and as the church.  It marks us as God's own and initiates us into the body of God's people who follow Christ.  I can't think of a better way to begin together than by remembering our baptisms.  We'll have an opportunity to do that on Sunday, as we ponder the meaning of following Jesus in this way.

Thank you.  I'm so glad that we've chosen each other.
Thank you.  For all the kind expressions of welcome - particularly the extravagant gifts that awaited me in my new home.  I was moved to tears by your thoughtfulness and by your gifts that offered your blessing on my house.

I do hope to see each of you on Sunday.  If we haven't yet met, please introduce yourself.  And, if you have a friend that you've been meaning to invite to church with you, perhaps now is the time.  So many are looking for a new way of life in this new year.  Christ Covenant can offer that new, joyful, purposeful way of community and service, centered in the love and experience of God.  So - think about it.  And I look forward to our time together in just a few short days.

With Love,
Glenna
The Board Corner
In the next few months, you will notice a change in our role as a Board.  With the addition of a Senior Pastor, we will no longer be as active in daily operations of the church, but will be able to direct our focus more thoroughly on the work for which a Board is responsible.

At the top of our agenda is reviewing and updating our SOP's and Bylaws as well as developing financial plans.  We have planned monthly work sessions so that we can begin this work immediately.  We will keep you informed of our activities, and as always, we welcome your input.

Peace,
CCMCC Board of Directors
Sunday School

Thank You from Ruth Gabriel...
Our many thanks to all who participated in the Christmas giving within our congregation.  You met many needs with your generosity and it was much appreciated!  Thank you for giving and receiving.
Thank You from Ministry Council...
The Ministries Council Teams would like to thank all of you that so generously donated items from our Wish Tree!  Your gifts help in the daily routine of running our church . We appreciate all of the gifts and look forward to serving you in 2010.  Together we make this church special!

With the arrival of Rev. Elder Shepherd, we begin the next segment of our journey as a community. It is a great time to train the new generation of worship leaders and participants and refresh the training of the current worship team.

Please join our clergy and lay leaders on Sunday, January 17, 2010 after the worship service for a light lunch and an hour of hands-on training.

This time is for all who wish to begin serving on the chancel, to usher, to read, or to help with set up and planning of worship.

If  you currently serve in any of these capacities and wish to continue, please plan to attend our training/refresher course on Sunday January 17th. If you have questions, please contact Rev. Jane Acuff at the church, via phone or email at worship@christcovenantmcc.org.

Recreational Bowling
If you like to bowl just for fun, then come join us on Friday nights at Suburban Lanes located in Suburban Plaza which is at the intersection of Church St. and North Decatur Rd.

We meet at 6:30 pm, bowl two games and then go somewhere for dinner as a group. Sometimes lanes are limited because of leagues but we always seem to manage to figure out a way for us all to bowl. We'd love to have you join us!

Cheerleaders are welcome if bowling isn't your thing and some of us need all the cheering we can get!  If you have questions, contact Barbara Bugg.

*This is a Connections Team sponsored activity.

Looking for new Connections Team members!
Have you been thinking about getting more involved at church and just haven't figured out where you connect best? Well, come connect with the Connections Team because we need you!

So, what is Connections? The Oxford dictionary says connections means connecting, being connected, a connecting part. An article in Sunday's AJC said people yearn to belong and be connected.

There is an African term, the Spirit of Ubuntu, which is the belief that our humanity is linked. That's what this team tries to do. We want to find ways to link or connect the people who come to CCMCC.

Have you ever sat in a large group, loved the group but wished you felt like you were connected or belonged?  Sometimes people just don't know how or where to go to get involved or feel connected. We want to provide a way for people to come to Christ Covenant and easily find ways to get to know people and find their own connections. It may be through an informal group bowling, cheering at softball games, tailgating at the drive in, game nights, and the possibilities are unlimited!

If you have suggestions for what the Connections Team can do, submit them via email to connections@christcovenantmcc.com or better yet, come join our team!  If you are interested in being a team member, see Barbara Bugg.
